We Prepare Your Change Of Status Documents

Stay in the U.S. and Start Your Degree

Already in the U.S. on a B-1/B-2, E-2, F-2, H-1B, J-1, L-1, or another status? You may be able to transition to an F-1 student without leaving the country. We help you prepare your application from start to finish, and we connect you directly with our network of independent attorneys for expert legal review and guidance whenever needed.

The Part Most
People Underestimate

A change of status file is more than your admission letter and your I-20. It is your SEVIS fee receipt, academic records, financial documents, I-94 and passport pages, and they all have to agree with each other. Omar & Co Consulting builds it and checks it against itself.

Then there is your status history. Every entry, extension and change, in order, with the document behind each one. Most students have no idea where to start. We do it with you and chase the missing pieces ourselves.

With Omar & Co Consulting, everything comes together in one organized file, so you spend less time on paperwork and more time moving forward.

Who Handles Each Part of Your Change of Status

University Admission

We guide your program choice and application through to your acceptance letter.

Form I-20

We coordinate with your university’s DSO so your I-20 is issued accurately.

Document Preparation

We prepare, organize and cross-check every document your change of status needs.

Attorney Connection

We connect you with an independent attorney who reviews and files your I-539.

Your Change of Status Does Not End at Filing

Filing is not the finish line. With regular processing, a USCIS decision on your change of status can take several months. Premium processing, available for an additional fee, brings a much faster response, and your attorney can advise which option fits your timeline. Either way, the waiting is where things quietly go wrong.

Your start date may move. Your DSO may need to issue an updated I-20, and if a term passes without that being handled, your file at the school and your file at USCIS stop matching each other.

This is where Omar & Co Consulting stays with you. We manage deferral requests, updated I-20 requests, enrollment questions and anything the school asks for, so your academic record does not drift while you wait. You will not have to explain your situation to a registrar who has never heard of it.

Questions Before You Get Started?

Do I need an attorney to change status to F-1?
Not legally required, but strongly recommended. Change of status involves Form I-539 and details that can affect your case. We prepare your documents and connect you with an independent licensed attorney who reviews and files your application.
Generally, no. In most cases you cannot begin classes until USCIS approves the change, and starting early can put your application at risk. Your DSO and attorney can advise on your situation, including a possible deferred start date.
Not necessarily. Your attorney can review your status, timeline, and start date to determine whether one is needed.
It is the USCIS form used to apply to extend or change your nonimmigrant status. For a change to F-1, it is filed with your I-20, financial evidence, and supporting documents.
Travel can be risky. Leaving the U.S. may be treated as abandoning your application, and re-entry would depend on your visa and status. Speak with your attorney before booking any trip.
Contact us and your DSO right away. The school may be able to defer your start date and issue an updated I-20, and your attorney can advise on next steps. USCIS decides timing, which we do not control.
